Tis The Season
I have been so under the weather this holiday season, and not only was I down but so was my little one. So this is a short one.
We both began to break down on Christmas Eve, with me a bit more under the weather than she was. We made it through Christmas and had the most wonderful day, until dinner was served. I actually had no appetite. Then came the muscle aches, chills and full congestion. I was feeling like crap. Then my little one woke up Boxing Day feverish and just a little grumpy. It was safe to say something took us both out. Obviously we both went to the doctor, which was eventful of itself. All seven hours of our time at the office. But at least we left there with meds and test done to find out if we fell prey to the flu. The upside to this though is that my son, was perfectly healthy as he always is. His immunity is one for the record books.
After going through and still dealing with us both being sick at the same time, it got me to realize that the commercial that says 'moms don't get a sick day...' is so true. Although I know it doesn't literealy mean that we don't get sick, I still want to make something perfectly clear. We can't just take meds and try to feel better and push through an evident illness, we must take that trip to the doctor, get checked out and take the appropriate rest along with the meds necessary. Just as you would provide the same care to your little ones.
I know this concept is a little hard to be done and to be understood by us all, especially those that worry about being replaced at work if they are ill. I am not saying to stay in every time you cough or sneeze but if you come down with something that has you basically on the brink of or fully incapable of functioning, priority number one is always getting better. We are people too, So get that hot lemon, chicken soup and favorite blanket and when you have put the kids to bed, cuddle and just be sick.
Love you mommas....Got the blanket on the ready!
